Online Teaching of Classical Tamil

About this project

The aim of this project is to prepare online course material for teaching Tamil language with special reference to Classical Tamil. The course will involve one hundred and twenty hours of instruction covering the four major kinds of ancient literature namely, Akam literature, Puram literature, Kappiyam literature and Aram literature. The entire course content is organised in four modules, each module consisting of three units and each unit consisting of three lessons. Each lesson will be covered in three hours and twelve hours will be allotted for both formative and summative assessment.

The course shell will be of the following four modules:
• Module One for Aka ilakkiyam (30 hrs.)
• Module Two for Pura ilakkiyam (30 hrs.)
• Module Three for Kappiya ilakkiyam (30 hrs.)
• Module Four for Ara ilakkiyam (30 hrs.)
Each module has three units with a duration of 10 hours each. Thus, on the whole, there will be 12 units.
Each unit will be having three lessons with a duration of three hours each and an hour for assessment.
Accordingly, all the four modules put together will be of 120 hours (12 Units 10 hours each), 36 Lessons (3 hours each) and 12 hrs for Assessment.
